Song Request Procedure at Krazy Karaoke

Reported problems:  The song queue is jammed with over 30 songs and no late-comer can get a song in before closing.  Multiple songs are entered off a list by the same singer(s) which result is less sharing.  Any program or attempt to organize a short programs is impossible without clearing the entire queue.

Proposed Basic Solution:  Detailed below.

Factors considered in Solution:  Approximately 18 karaoke songs played in a hour (estimate 3.4 minutes/song).  A 5 hour session = 90 songs, especially since we lose song time to set up food/drinks, check song books, etc. when we first enter.  Not everyone sings.

Basic Procedure:  Song Request slip system, tended input
  • 90-100 unique request slips will be pre-printed for a 5-hour event
  • ONLY one song request per request slip
  • Request slips will be placed into a glass/bowl
  • Only 3 songs will be in the song queue at any time
  • When a song finishes, another song slip will be drawn randomly from the glass/bowl
  • Distribution of song slips will vary by event

Modified Procedure for Rob25/Frank25 Karaoke Call
Note:  This is an event planned and organized by Rob25

  1. Basic procedure above in effect
  2. All paid attendees will be given a song request slip at the door
  3. Song request slips may be used by attendee or given away
  4. Approx. 6 songs will be entered immediately for group singing/non-specific singers to get started.
  5. Rob25/Frank25 will hold the balance of the request slips
  • As the host, Rob25 may pass out song slips to request certain songs from certain Tsingers.
  • They may also pass out additional song slips to those designated to get the group karaoke and "warm up" songs started as soon as we enter (usually d1shima or Mrs. Bulla).
  • Rob25 will also have 15 special color song slips to distribute--these color slips have priority and will be entered next in the song queue.  This will also facilitate special duets or group requests.
