The Fo'c'sle Folk Club

Morning! Last night saw us playing at the Fo'c'sle Folk Club in Southampton. It was a really lovely night! Took us four hours there and under two to get back home! The floor spots were fantastic and we were preceded by Andy Jackson from the Miskin at Easter Festival. This happy occurance meant that we could point out the advert that we'd seen in York last week were the festival was referred to as Minsk at Easter. It made us laugh! Boy it's going to be a cold festival if we're off to Minsk!!! Anyway, the Focsle. I loved the hangings from Valentines day that were left hanging from the ceiling, hearts and pink, very romantic. Everyone was lovely and friendly, we had to head straight back home afterwards to rehearse on Saturday morning, but at least the journey was nice and easy at midnight. Our next outing is the session in the Bluebell Inn in Hempstead, so if you're local to us and up for a session, we'll be there!

The Black Swan Folk Club

swanMorning!
Last night saw us playing in York at the Black Swan Folk Club. We had a totally wonderful evening! Although rac route finder says that it's 4 hours and 15 minutes from Essex, it took us far less time!!! I'd love to spend more time in York, it's very pretty and I've never really seen much of it. Stan Graham sang some wonderful songs and a gentleman who's name I can't remember but was introduced as Tony (but wasn't!) read some poems he'd written. If you go along to the Black Swan Folk Club, definitely ask for the poem entitled Zip, it was incredibly funny and had me in stiches!!!!
Next week we're playing at the Fo'c'sle Folk Club down in Southampton. We look forward to seeing you there!

The Half Penny Folk Club

Last Sunday saw us jumping in the car and driving all the way over to South Wales to the Half Penny Folk Club on the Gower Peninsula. We got there early and fell asleep in the car looking out at the view from Rhossili (that's the picture) except it was very windy and cloudy, but in a way that made the view even more spectacular! We had dinner with Joy and Tony, enjoying the best Sout Wales Lamb, yuuuuumm! The club itself was fantastic, because the weather was so cold and everyone froze in the hall out the back of the pub we decamped into the front room of the pub where we all defrosted in front of the blazing fire. We totally loved Gower! I certainly could imagine moving there! >dreams!<
Next week we're jumping in the car and heading on up to the Black Swan Folk Club in York. See you there!
