Victoria Rabinowe is the founder and former co-owner of the Santa Fe Weaving Gallery. In addition to exhibiting artwear of top fiber artists of the 1980’s and 1990’s, the gallery featured Victoria’s hand dyed, handwoven and handpainted silk designs including garments, costumes and soft sculptures. Her work expanded in the 1990’s to include the OPRA label collaborative Ikat clothing with her husband Ed Oppenheimer (Aku), and the Split Image label collaborative knitwear with Ruth Lantz.
From the 1970’s through the 1990’s she lectured on contemporary American wearable art across the United States & Japan. She has taught at Penland School of Crafts, Convergence, the Georgia O’Keeffe Museum, Kyoto College of Arts & Crafts, and Kawashima Textile School. She has been featured in Fiberarts Magazine, The Weaver’s Journal, and Handwoven. Her fiberart has been shown at Julie Artisan, Sak’s Fifth Avenue, the Museum of International Folk Art, and the Legion of Honor of The Fine Arts Museum of San Francisco. |
