Pictures are from Bacharach, The Rhine, and Baden Baden (also known as the Black Forest.). All of these areas are known for their castles and wood carvings including music boxes and cuckoo clocks.

Many of the Rhine castles are now hotels.
Castle is in the water and was used to gather tolls from passing barges.
