Compulsory "Year in review" article
We aren't CNN or Fox News or anything but we
did live through 2005 so here's the first of a bunch of pretentious articles
that look back over the
year...
2005 was a huge year for
us. Looking back on the year we are so happy to have had the opportunity to be
here and we believe our adventure is just beginning. Here are just some of the
events:
We experienced our first
Tet in 2005 and were amazed that despite any sign of anyone during the day, Hoan
Kiem lake managed to be packed by the turn of the lunar new
year.
Emma got her CELTA and began
teaching. She's now the most sought after English teacher at her school
according to my estimation.
I
presented at the Cisco security summit on behalf of FPT-IS - a great honor and a
lot of fun.
We visited Hoi An for
a week with FPT, and we loved
it.
Emma's brother James visited
us and introduced us to the French Hospital after his motorbike
"adventure".
We moved into the old
quarter and have decided to settle here for a
while.
We had a holiday in Saigon
and enjoyed it immensely.
Some of
Emma's MOET students passed their IELTS with scores high enough to study in
Australia. I think it's one of the real highlights of the year. The ability to
be able to improve someone's life in such a significant way is so rewarding.
I've had the chance to work with
some of FPT-IS largest customers and have even managed to bring in some new
business. The company has welcomed us with open arms and I'm so pleased to have
been able to contribute.
We
attended a staggering number of FPT parties and Vietnamese
weddings.
Emma finally succumbed
to my pestering to watch Battlestar Galactica and she is hooked now of
course.
We have made so many new
friends it's difficult to
count.
We had over 30,000 hits on
our blogs in 2005. Not bad since this started as Emma's idea to keep our
families in touch, who promise to read it one day by the way.
