Recently there has been a campaign around Hanoi to encourage use of motorbike helmets on the roads. This seems to be aimed at young people, as the posters are of young men and women wearing red helmets with yellow stars on them. The red/yellow star combo is actually the flag of Vietnam, where the star represents the shining future against the red of the bloody battles of the past.
Strangely, though, Russell noticed the helmet design being modified on posters all around town.
Look below. The star has been erased and a pattern in pink added to the poster.

But if you look up close, you can clearly see where they have tried to cover the bright yellow star!
