At first I just couldn't see myself getting around on the Hanoi roads at all. Not to mention I have no idea how to ride a motorbike.
But because there are so many places to see all around Hanoi, riding a bicycle can get a little tiring, to say the least!
What to do?
Well, Russell discovered "electric bikes". Some of these are just a little on the dorky side - picture a chunky bicycle with a battery pack attached. Hmmm, good idea but this is just not going to be cool.
Anyway, I had decided that, cool or not, I wanted to get around town without taking motorbike taxis or car taxis everywhere. So we went to check out the electric bikes.
And lo-and-behold, they have scooter-shaped electric bikes!!! ALL the cool girls in town drive scooters like this - Honda Spacy and SYM Attila are a couple of the big names. The body of this bike actually comes from a Yamaha called Bianco.
So now I have this gorgeous powder blue baby to cruise around town on. It's not too fast (top speed about 40km downhill!!), it's comfortable, and it's fun!
