The cover picture of Embracing Emily is the creation of Ernest Mucenieks, a contemporary Latvian artist. Ernest chose three views of Riga, the capital city of Latvia, each view showing various churches, cathedrals, and religious symbols, as well as everyday life. To the author, the woman swimming or flying over the city, is a symbol of the spirit—which exists in all humans—that is capable of blissfully rising above earthly entanglements and belief systems. Please feel free to read your own interpretation into this picture, as well as the book!
