Steering Wheel Bracket
My desk is too thick for the Logitech Momo steering wheel to clamp to, so I needed to make something that would fit. This simple design slips over the bottom edge of the desk’s skirt, then pivots into place. 6 soft plastic bumpers from Rockler keep it from sliding, and a couple strips of felt and thin weather stripping keep the front from marring the desk.
A word of warning for anybody who has or will have such a steering wheel. Don’t take it into your shop or touch it with dusty hands. Any particle of dust will stick to it like a sumbitch.
Here you can see the wheel’s 2 auxilliary clamps. The main clamp is on a big hunk of plastic whose jaw is only 2” tall. Luckily, that hunk comes off with 4 bolts. This view also shows the clear plastic buttons, weather stripping, and felt. I've had that felt in a junk drawer since about 1986. Never throw anything away!
