Foot Stool
When I worked at the office, I had the large subwoofer in the corner of my cube under the desk. I got really used to putting my feet on it. Ever since I started working from home, I've missed that. For the past few weeks, I piled up some thick books to try different heights to see what would work. Then I built this. It's just 3/4” oak with a 3/4” plywood top angled at 13°. The sides are joined with tongue & groove. The top is offset from the legs about 5/8” so there’s space between the wall for cables. That’s also the reason I made the sides like I did, so I could just run cables through the holes if the space behind it ran out of room. With 3 computers and tons of peripherals, there are tons of cables. It’s finished with the same mahogany stain and clear poly as the desk and CD cabinets. The front of the sides is rounded over with the router to reduce toe injury should I happen to kick it, and because it looks cool. I like the way it shows off the joints.
The top has 3/8” foam under some nice thick carpet my neighbors had left over, so it’s very cushy.
