Wikilret is an a priori artlang, primarily analytic (isolating) and secondarily agglutinative. Although there is some borrowing of words from Latin that are then mutated to fit the phonology and structure of the language. The current incarnation of Wikilret is a formal classical style of the language. I hope to develop at least two daughter languages from it.
Wikilret is spoken by a race that refer to themselves as olyan (meaning high/great/true people), while others refer to them as the oramyani (which is descended from the Wikilret oranmyanë meaning great/high warrior).
The oramyani are a fallen race, holding to an honour and tradition that lost its meaning long ago. Oramyani are easily offended and quick to draw blades. They once held sway over much of the known lands. Their empire collapsed long ago, although the ruins and legacy live on.
Oramyani are humanoids standing (in general) almost a head taller than humans, although remarkably thin. They have proportionally larger noses (broader and flatter), jutting chins, and an underbite, with canine teeth that protrude above the lip from the lower jaw. Skin tones range from sandy red to red-brown, although darker and lighter tones are present. Nails and gums tend to be very dark. They have little body hair except in the pubic area, and consider humans to have a lot of hair and to be very/too! sexual.
The world on which Wikilret is spoken has several loquent species. Humans were brought to the area as slaves by the oramyani. Few slaves learned Wikilret. Wikilret influenced the human language similar to the Latin/Norman French influence on English.
Technical: Wikilret words are set in this style. Placing your mouse over the word should bring up a tooltip indiciating the pronunciation of the word in ConLang X-Sampa (CXS), with syllables separated by hyphens.
