"Last Holiday" Review

The Professor gives it a B. IMDB.com entry for

IMDB.com Plot Outline: After she's diagnosed with a terminal illness, a shy woman decides to take a European vacation.

A thoroughly predictable bit of feel-good fluff, this movie sparkles because Queen Latifa gives a restrained and charming performance as the doomed department store clerk, Georgia Byrd. Her interaction with Gerard Depardieu's Chef Didier is touching, and is what makes the movie worth watching. I almost hoped, for a time, that the movie wouldn't go where its beginning had so obviously aimed it, and that Georgia would end up in Europe with the Chef. But no, the filmmakers couldn't resist the obvious happy ending.

Still, there's nothing wrong with an hour and forty minutes of upbeat laughs. Not a DVD purchase, but a definite anti-depressant afternoon at the movies.
