"Good Night and Good Luck" Review

The Professor gives it an B.

IMDB.com
plot outline: Broadcast journalist Edward Murrow looks to bring down Senator Joseph McCarthy.

Face it, this just ain't my kind of movie.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with it. The writing is excellent, the direction top-notch, the acting superb, the cinematography crisp and elegant. The editing is very good, too. Nor did I find myself looking at my watch during it. It's even, in some sense, a period costume epic, one of my favorites.

It's just that, a week later, I was sitting here saying to myself, "Self, you ought to write a review about that very serious movie you saw last week. What was it?" And for the life of me, I could not remember. I had to go to moviefone.com and look up "independents now playing in theaters."

In short, it is like asparagus: fresh, tasty, very well prepared, and exceedingly good for me. By all rights, I ought to like it.

It's just that I don't.
