"Chicken Little" review

The Professor gives it an A-.

IMDB.com
plot summary: "After Chicken Little causes widespread panic--when he [apparently] mistakes a falling acorn for a piece of the sky--the young chicken is determined to restore his reputation. But just as things are starting to go his way, a real piece of the sky lands on his head. Chicken Little and his band of misfit friends, Abby Mallard (aka Ugly Duckling), Runt of the Litter and Fish Out of Water, attempt to save the world without sending the town into a whole new panic."

Yes, well... OK, so I'm catching up on reviews after NaNoWriMo.

The animation in this is superb. Disney has truly gone to extremes to make their new 3D animation department (now separate from Pixar) THE studio to be beat in terms of visual luxury. Feathers ruffle, fur flies, fabric wrinkles, plaids match, Gatorade splashes... amazing stuff.

The voice acting is great, too. The actors here do a great job. Like other studios, they have cast recognizable names -- Patrick Stewart, Don Knotts, Fred Willard among others -- that know their comedy and lend a note of madcap panic to the frenetic pace.

It's all fun-- just a bit too saccharine for my taste. No one is evil here, heck, no one is even naughty here (unlike "Lilo and Stitch"). And the father-son subplot is too easily resolved. Nevertheless, great for younger kiddies, enjoyable for adults. A good time is had by all.
