The Wednesday Meme/Quiz - Is Your Internet Use Yin or Yang?

Yet another gender identity quiz -- although on this one, I'm inclined to question whether 'net surfing style is all that gender related... would it not be more geekitude related?

Your Surfing Habits are 80% Male, 20% Female
If we had to guess, we would guess that you are a man.
You use the internet to make your life more efficient - and to make you smarter.
For you, the internet is like a vast encyclopedia.
You search and surf extensively. You look up everything online.

Weekly Meme/ Quiz ? (In This Generation)

I'd like to make a regular quiz/meme part of this blog - if only to keep myself in the habit of opening up the blog editor ;-) Let me know what you think, readers. Meanwhile, here is an interesting one I found over at Blogthings -- and accurate for me, as well. *sigh*

You Belong in the Baby Boomer Generation
You fit in best with people born between 1943 and 1960.
You are optimistic, rebellious, and even a little self centered.
You still believe that you will change the world.
You detest authority and rules. Deep down, you're a non conformist.

Food -- You're Always on My Mind

A food meditation and some quick fun for Wednesday: What Kind of Sandwich Are You? As for me:

You Are a Ham Sandwich
You are quiet, understated, and a great comfort to all of your friends.
Over time, you have proven yourself as loyal and steadfast.
And you are by no means boring. You do well in any situation - from fancy to laid back.

Your best friend: The Turkey Sandwich

Your mortal enemy: The Grilled Cheese Sandwich

Omnivore Challenge...

This list comes via Lady Crumpet:

From Andrew Wheeler:

Here’s a chance for a little interactivity for all the bloggers out there. Below is a list of 100 things that I think every good omnivore should have tried at least once in their life. The list includes fine food, strange food, everyday food and even some pretty bad food - but a good omnivore should really try it all. Don’t worry if you haven’t, mind you; neither have I, though I’ll be sure to work on it. Don’t worry if you don’t recognise everything in the hundred, either; Wikipedia has the answers.
Here’s what I want you to do:
1) Copy this list into your blog or journal, including these instructions.
2) Bold all the items you’ve eaten.

So -- I've at least tasted 48 of 100. I didn't have my cognac with a fat cigar, so I had to cross that off, along with all the other alcoholic beverages I haven't tried yet. Other than that, it's mostly a question of either I haven't had the opportunity, or I haven't been that desperate...

How did they KNOW?

...it's a deep dark secret, but for two semesters I actually was on my undergraduate college fencing team... the only formal athletics I've ever participated in.

You Are Fencing
You're competitive but not brutally so. You compete to make yourself better.
You find having an opponent to be challenging and rewarding.
You are fierce when you're in a competition, but you don't wish your rivals any real harm.

In Honor of Summer

...and the road trips that are rapidly becoming a thing of the past:
The Road Trip of Your Life
You see life as a journey you must take alone. Independence and individuality are primary to you.

You live a life of leisure. You take your time in every aspect of life and enjoy it to the fullest.

You're willing to take a few risks in life. You may not take the road no one travels, but you're happy to take the road less traveled.

You are able to find a fairly healthy balance between work and play. You work when you need to, but you never let yourself burn out.

In another life, you could have been a great artist. You trust your creative instincts enough to let them lead you.

Pity that how I take road trips doesn't generalize to the rest of my life...

Well, At Least It's Quantifiable

When I share at recovery group meetings, I sometimes refer to myself as "emotionally retarded." It gets a laugh. I didn't realize, though, that it could be quantified:
Your EQ is 67
When it comes to understanding human emotions, you'd have better luck understanding Chinese.

You're not exactly the most psychologically aware person. You don't really know why people act the way they do.
It's difficult enough for you to figure out what's going on in your own head. Forget understanding anyone else.

You often feel bad about yourself and your life. But it's hard for you to get yourself on the right path.
Consider getting help for your problems. It only feels like you have a dead end life.

I've been getting help for this for -what? Thirty years now? I hate to think what my score was before I started...

Quiz - The Beach Test

I used to find lots of cool quizzes and memes on the blogs I follow, but they're not showing up near as often. So I went out and found this myself on Blogthings:

What the Beach Test Says About You
You like people, but you're careful about who you get close to. Friendship is important to you... so important that you aren't just friends with anyone.

You have cold feet when it comes to love. You have a lot of uncertainty until you convince yourself to dive right in.

You are deeply passionate about several things in your life. You're not passionate about much... and the few passions you have are truly obsessions.

Your sense of humor is intellectual and obscure. Only really well educated people get your jokes.

Please let me know what you think...

Lifepath number, WTF?

I came across this at Fond of Snape:
Your Life Path Number is 7
Your purpose in life is to find truth and meaning

You are very spiritual, and you are interested in the mysteries of life.
You are quite analytical and a great thinker. You have many theories and insights.
A life of solitude is perfect for you. You need time to think and do things your way.

In love, you are quite charming. You attract many with your confidence and wit.

While you enjoy being alone, sometimes you take it to an extreme.
You can become too isolated, shutting out loved ones and friends.
Express yourself a little bit more, and you'll be surprised where it takes you!

Spookily appropriate to yesterday's post, no?

Tiny little personality quiz

Not bad for just three questions:
Your Personality Is
Rational (NT)

You are both logical and creative. You are full of ideas.
You are so rational that you analyze everything. This drives people a little crazy!

Intelligence is important to you. You always like to be around smart people.
In fact, you're often a little short with people who don't impress you mentally.

You seem distant to some - but it's usually because you're deep in thought.
Those who understand you best are fellow Rationals.

In love, you tend to approach things with logic. You seek a compatible mate - who is also very intelligent.

At work, you tend to gravitate toward idea building careers - like programming, medicine, or academia.

With others, you are very honest and direct. People often can't take your criticism well.

As far as your looks go, you're coasting on what you were born with. You think fashion is silly.

On weekends, you spend most of your time thinking, experimenting with new ideas, or learning new things.
I'd have put a bit more emphasis on creativity, myself... but "you're often a little short with people who don't impress you mentally.."

Dead in the black, unfortunately.

You Mean I Wasn't Ruler of the World?

Found this over at Fond of Snape:
Your past life diagnosis:
I don't know how you feel about it, but you were male in your last earthly incarnation. You were born somewhere in the territory of modern Ireland around the year 850. Your profession was that of a seaman, cook or carpenter.
Your brief psychological profile in your past life:
Bohemian personality, mysterious, highly gifted, capable to understand ancient books. With a magician's abilities, you could have been a servant of dark forces.
The lesson that your last past life brought to your present incarnation:
Your task is to learn, to love and to trust the universe. You are bound to think, study, reflect, and to develop inner wisdom.
