The Saddle and the Damage Done

It looks like it's time for me to go back to the orthopedic surgeon. Bummer.

I went biking again yesterday in the Sepulveda Basin. The good news is that I'm really getting into much better condition. I cut 25% off my time on the circumference path around the central basin area (bounded by Balboa Blvd., Burbank Blvd., Woodley Ave. and Victory Blvd.). I'm also learning the idiosyncracies of my machine -- I've never had a bicycle with a three-gear hub before, and I've had to re-learn how to shift gears. The gel saddle is MUCH more comfortable on a longer ride, and the rear-view mirror on my helmet works fine.

The bad news is that my right knee is really sore today, and there's an ominous clickety-clack sensation whenever I bend it under load. I'm going to try wearing a brace constantly to see if that helps, but I may need to go back to the nice orthopedic surgeon who treated my left knee ligament injury, and have him look at the right one this time.
