I LIKE the Outdoors. Really.

It just doesn't like me.

In July, when I hiked in La Jolla Canyon, I got a few insect bites, having neglected to use bug repellent. So today, when I went to Sycamore Canyon, I used a Super Duper All-Natural Bug Repellent (which, in fairness, worked before.)

I have insect bites all over my arms. On my back UNDER my shirt, if you please. I have several on my FACE. Either the bug repellent worked as a bug attractant, or I wouldn't be able to move had the few it repelled also bitten me.

To paraphrase Tolkien, "What DO they live on when they can't get professor?"

Here are some photos of the (VERY dry) canyon:

One of the namesake sycamores at the campground.

A view of the trail from the canyon back towards the campground and parking lot.

A great view of Point Mugu.

P.S. The SAM-e seems to be working on the joints... no knee pain, and no naproxen!
