Who needs a pro?
...when chaos is proportional to the
square of the number of ADD people in the household...
My finances may be in meltdown, but there are a few
bright spots.I'm losing weight. Younger
Son is losing weight. The bills are paid (albeit with deficit financing.) The
dishes are washed. We are not TOO far behind on laundry. And I'm learning more
and more about how to organize in ways that are not too complex for an ADD
person to manage.Further, there is
evidence that my husband may be moderating his tobacco use and also losing some
weight. HIS house is much less cluttered and notably cleaner than it was when
Y.S. and I were living there, even though Older Son is living there,
too.And despite difficulties at work, I
asked for special filing supplies there today, and a paper planner with pretty
flowers in, and the stuff was simply requisitioned, no questions asked.
Conclusions:
- Chaos in an ADD household is proportional to the square of the number of ADD people living there. Therefore, chaos in both households has dropped by a factor of four.
- Chaos in an ADD household is also related to cubic feet of accumulated junk. This relationship may be linear, or it also may be exponential; in either event, there is not enough accumulated junk in my apartment to be a problem. Yet.
- Attempting to organize in the fashion of ordinary folks DOESN'T WORK. Special ADD organizing techniques, using bright colors, helpers, and words of one syllable, are needed. Now that I finally seem to be getting over the idea that somehow, someday, I'll be able to use a PDA and a file cabinet like everyone else, I might be able to get my time, stuff, and paperwork under control.
And if that doesn't work, I'll just take a match to it...
