Max of YTMND fame has posted a comprehensive history of the YTMND website. In it, he details the rationale behind some of his more recent decisions, including the one to start placing ads on YTMND. Hint: YTMND takes up frigging' crapload of bandwidth, and as such costs a crapload of money -- that's just for one month alone. Reflected Networks, his host, also apparently is allowing Max to rack up a tab, since it's costing way over what advertising pays for.

It also sounds like there have been some problems in the YTMND community recently with regards to advertising, which sounds kind of lame given that Max is working on YTMND full-time. Although it's mostly a bunch of worthless websites, I'd hate to see YTMND go. It's a bunch of friggin' hilarious worthless websites. :)
