Geoffrey Pullum over at the Language Log analyzes the first paragraph of "The Da Vinci Code" by Dan Brown, and concludes that his writing, well, sucks. I've heard this from various other people who've read the book as well, but I haven't bothered to try reading it myself. This will probably put me off from reading it at all.

This is a three-year-old post on a three-year-old book, but it's salient nonetheless for those who haven't had time to get around to the book yet.
