Tue - May 2, 2006IsabellaHere's some images we shot of little Isabella who has just turned 5. I love the energy children of this age have, they don't sit still for 5 seconds ! This is great because you can get some images which are so full of life and they seem to reflect their characters so well rather than the posed, static pictures of years gone by. My daughter is the same age as Isabella and it didn't surprise me that she turned up with several changes of clothing, including the red party dress ! Turn your speakers on and click here for her slideshow.
![]() ![]() Posted at 12:27 PM Mon - April 10, 2006CalebCaleb is a young violinist and brother of Elias
who I photographed last month. His Mum brought him in after seeing his brother's
pictures and requested a similar style. Again the idea was for a variety of
images for different uses. Here's a few of my
favourites.
Posted at 02:54 PM Mon - March 27, 2006SidneyI photographed young Sidney today. I shot his
parent's wedding a couple of years ago at Windsor Guildhall and Ascot Racecourse
and, as always, it was a pleasure to welcome back an ex-bride and groom and
their first child.
Little Sid is only a couple of weeks old here and it's really nice to photograph babies at any age but especially when they're so young. They change so much during their first months that it's difficult to remember how tiny they were when they were born. I'm pleased to say Sid's parents are coping well, they were up with him several times the night before the portrait session but didn't look any the worse for wear !
Posted at 09:53 PM Tue - March 21, 2006EliasElias is a talented young musician who plays a
variety of stringed instruments. He brought four of them along to a studio
portrait session today and the idea was to shoot some images for his new website
and also have some images for future use for advertising, flyers
etc.
Apart from the 'standard' style of images it was nice to shoot some more individual images with a bit more creativity. I think these worked particularly well in black and white and here are a few of my favourite images from the session.
Posted at 06:43 PM Wed - March 8, 2006Megan & AlexToday I was asked to photograph brother and
sister Alex and Megan at home. Their mother had a new kitchen built so it was a
nice idea to shoot the pictures there. I love informal children's photography.
When they are in their own home, children are a lot more relaxed. Sometimes with
studio based photography children feel they have to 'perform' somehow and
sometimes the pictures can be a bit contrived. Photography in the home often is
more of a play time than a photography sessiom. Certainly there was a lot more
rolling around on the floor ! I think the images are a lot more informal and
this helps the personality of the children to come
through.
Posted at 06:19 PM Fri - January 13, 2006Rory and EllieRory & Ellie's Mum sent them to be
photographed today. We had great fun and got some nice pictures as you can see
from the slideshow.
Check out the slideshow by clicking here . You can look at all the images by going to the main site or by clicking here. Posted at 11:22 AM Wed - January 4, 2006PriaHere's some images I really liked from a recent
session for the beautiful Pria who commissioned me to shoot some nice relaxed
images. I wanted to shoot some pictures with traditional studio portrait values
but in a more laid back
style.
Posted at 06:07 PM Mon - December 5, 2005Nathan and his girlsResident website genius Nathan and his family
visited today. You can view the full gallery here (for the next six
weeks).
I really like the top picture of Nathan and his eldest daughter Neve and I love the contrast of new baby Isla's baby skin and Nathan's grizzled visage (sorry Nathan !)
Posted at 03:01 PM Sat - December 3, 2005AntoniaPeter and Eva brought their beautiful daughter
Antonia in to the studio for some photographs. She's 7 years old and has changed
quite a bit since I last took her picture aged one (Antonia that is, not
me).
Posted at 07:45 PM Amy & StephenIt was a pleasure to photograph these two, I like
the fashion magazine feel to these images. The toughest part of this shoot was
persuading Mum and Dad to join in for some family pictures
!
Posted at 07:39 PM Wed - November 30, 2005YanYan is a classical violinist. She's soon to
embark on a concert tour of China, performing with an orchestra as well as a duo
for some smaller performances. She needed some images for the tour promotion -
posters, programmes, flyers etc. so I was pleased to be able to help with the
images. The brief was to create some contemporary images with a fresher feel
than the more usual formal images. Here's a few of my favourites from the
portrait session.
Posted at 05:43 PM Mon - November 28, 2005Baby IsobelIsobel visited today. She is 5 1/2 months old.
She brought her parents with her and we shot many cute pictures
!
I really liked this one as it's not a typical baby portrait. She looks like she's going to make a speech :) Well done to her Dad who was lying on the floor, doing the glove puppet thing and making sure she didn't topple backwards ! Posted at 11:47 AM Read More Tue - October 25, 2005Stephanie, Shaun and The BumpWith about 6 weeks to go, Steph and Shaun came
for some 'bump' pictures. Late pregnancy is such a short period of time
(although I have it on good authority that it feels like it lasts forever !), so
in my opinion some pictures are a really good idea. Their life will be turned
upside down very soon ! I think it's a nice idea that one day their child will
be able to see how things started out for them
!
Posted at 05:45 PM Mon - October 10, 2005Simon AlexanderSimon Alexander is an amazing magician who
specialises in parties, events and weddings. I think it's a really cool idea for
weddings to keep the guests amused during the reception.
The idea was to create non-cheesy images for website and brochure use (no top hats or rabbits thank you !). It's an interesting subject to photograph. These are a few studio shots that I liked (I'm editing the rest today) and we may have a second shoot on location - somewhere atmospheric and a bit spooky would be nice. If you meet Simon at a party he may get you to sign a £5 note which will strangely disappear from right in front of your eyes...and be subsequently found inside a lemon that you've been holding all evening...most disturbing !
Posted at 11:59 AM Mon - August 8, 2005Amy and PhoebeAmy and her sister Phoebe came down from London
today for a portrait session. The pictures are going to be a present for their
mother which is a nice idea.
Here's a few images which caught my eye at the editing stage.
