While the Kamogawa trip was organised by the Science Faculty, the Arts Faculty organised a trip to Nikko. My friend who is a tutor at the exchange room told me about it and so I asked if I could tag along but paying my own way since I wasn't an arts student. They let me and I had a really good time. I've been to Nikko before with Efaniel and there were few places visited which I hadn't been to before but still in a different season it felt different and the Kegon Falls were particularly spectacular, being largely iced over. The group that went were all really cool and it was good getting to know them all better (the same goes for the Kamogawa group as well actually). In Nikko, like Kamogawa, we had the obligatory night-time celebration. Sites seen were the Toshogu Shrine district, including the tomb of the man who is probably most famous in Japanese history, Tokugawa Ieyasu, which I skipped the previous time, on the first day, and then a lookout, the falls I mentioned earlier, Lake Chuzenji and it's temple and the many souvenir shops near the station. It actually snowed a bit on the first day and that night was blisteringly cold as we went for supplies for the party. Still it was well worth the effort and a great little trip in general. I think Nikko should be a must- see for anyone who spends more than a week in Tokyo and it is even possible to do it as a day-trip although staying a night is recommended.
