Thank you for your interest in a tour of Myanmar.
Whether you have already committed to a tour or our considering your options, I hope the following fact sheet will be of some assistance to you. It provides an overview of what to expect once you decided on a Lay Ko tour!
Arrival in Myanmar
Should you be arriving in Yangon by Air, please email your flight details (arrival time/flight number/airline) at your earliest convenience, this way I can ensure I am not on tour with other clients. I will meet to at the Airport and transfer you to your chosen accommodation.
I can make recommendations to suit your budget from backpacker hostel to 5 star hotels. As a guide, $13 to $15 per night is proposed for the more budget conscious but a wide range of accommodation up to $100 is available in most places around Myanmar.
Please note, if I am away on tour I would be pleased to recommend alternative guides to you.
Agreeing the Tour Programme
Once you have settled into your Yangon accommodation, we can arrange a mutually convenient time to sit down and discuss your tour options and preferences. I will bring along photographs, maps and previous guest referrals together with a suggested programme to suit the time you wish to spend touring.
Once you are happy with a programme, a contract is agreed and a 50% deposit payment is required, with the remaining paid at the end of the tour. I can only accept payment in US dollars, as do most hotels and tours/entrance fees. I will be happy to assist you in obtaining the best rate possible for exchanging your dollars into Kyat, which you will need for meals, sundries and shopping.
As a guide, the most popular tours include stops in Yangon, Bagan, Inle Lake, Kalaw, Taungoo, Mandalay, Pyay and a beach destination.
(Please note that I am unable to drive to Ngapali beach due to the appalling road conditions, but am happy to recommend travel agents who can arrange good value air or bus tickets) and will be happy provide your safe transfer to and from the airport.
