White Rock Creek--Before & After
March 19, 2006 - floodwaters create torrent in spillway, ripping off retaining wall and fence later that night.

We follow the jogger into the woods.
She sees the dam and the spillway at White Rock Lake
Momentarily, she arrives at this bridge.
Whoa! The same bridge gets flooded!
A serene moment on the White Rock Creek Spillway
This is what the bird sees.
Flooded!
Looking across the spillway over the dam.
Same dam location, under water.
The birds of the spillway area grabbing breakfast.
Hope they're very thirsty today.
A normal day at the low-end of the spillway.
Same area under flood.
The water's path when it leaves the lake and park.
Sometimes it goes fast!
Overview of the area.
Same view, flooded!
Normal flow.
Note the tree in this picture, compared with the next.
Same tree, violent waters.
Note the retaining wall on other side.
Opposite wall section has fallen into the water!
Dam on a normal day.
Dam with flood.
Remember the girl? This is where she was.
Now the whole jogger's parking is flooded.
Wider shot of same area.
Zooming out further, we see the retaining wall.
The wall between the jog path and the spillway.
That same wall, under attack by flood!
This is the wall that gave way in the flood.
Note the breach in the wall. This would give way later.
From the girl to curve, this wall would soon be gone!
The near section would fall on 3-19-2006.
See the bent section? First sign the wall would fall.
The straight, level section would separate in a flood.
Later that night the wall gave way.
Next Morning, the wall could be seen separated from the land.
It appears that the wall was pushed far from its original location.
But worse: a huge chunk of land was carved out by rushing water.
Refurbished old boathouse, now full of boats.
The sun is just getting warm.
Boats smashed in boathouse as waters rise.
This would be under water in flood.
Plaza Solana under the weather.
Don't Drive over manhole covers with red cones!
