Skating At Daybreak
I like skating at 6:00 a.m. Living about 4 blocks from White Rock Lake Park, I skate miles and miles daily on green trails in Dallas, Texas.

   

Who wouldn't be tempted to skate into this?
Near the trailhead, this old gate helps control flooding.
So we head into the still-dark woods.
This takes you across a creek and behind the dam.
The water pours off the dam on White Rock Creek.
The sun is just getting warm.
Plaza Solana. Catching the rays of its namesake.
Ducks in a row. Soon I'll be on the opposite shore.
This earlybird is getting the fish.

The sun gets busy creating a 105 degree scorcher.
Would-be Lance Armstrongs use the road.

Marina across the lake, as a longboat slides past.
The old Dallas Waterworks, and the grafitti dam.
The trail is getting busy at TeePee Hill.
You can just make out those "sit down" bicycles.

Hard to picture the raging torrent after storms?
161 years later, it's still a busy trail.
WRL SE corner. Traffic squeezes through narrows.
Built recently, bridge divides trail from traffic.
The Little Blue Heron-an exotic resident. Plus ducks.
Circa 1930s by Civilian Conservation Corps.
Honoring the CCC, who built much of the park.
Aging bridge still adds elegant touch to entrance.

Great Blue Heron! These birds are quite a sight!
He flew for me, but I still missed the shot!
