Tiny Bears |
![]() This photo was taken in December of 1992. I apologize for the fuzziness, but it was a Polaroid. Each polar bear is about 3 inches long. They are all sledding and wear scarves and ear-muffs made of pom-pons and a bit of gold braid. Their arms and legs are thread-jointed. | ![]() All the photos with the wicker sleigh were taken at Christmas of 1991. This bear is made from a fuzzy cloth with flowered cotton print for contrast.. He has embroidered eyes and is about 4 inches small. |
![]() This was supposed to be a bear, but using the larger shiny eyes made him look like a hamster, so I gave him a pink hamster nose & thread whiskers. His vest is a scrap of reversible quilted fabric. | ![]() This little fellow is terribly wistful. He's made of scrap fur (most of the tinies are made from scraps too good to throw away.) |
![]() This happy fellow has bright amber eyes. | ![]() The plushy upholstery material that made this bear wrinkled in his forehead, and so he became a Shar Pei bear (after the Chinese breed of wrinkly dogs). His contrast fabric is a gray, pink and yellow floral. |
![]() This bear was made from a pair of fur-lined mittens. I've no idea what sort of fur it was, but the mittens were so ugly no one wore them and I didn't like thinking an animal's sacrifice was to no purpose. | ![]() This bear was made from a worn-out mink collar. He has a few scars, but his fur covers them. |
![]() This wasn't too long after Berr Avon (in the silver tunic at back) had recognized his true identity. | ![]() The little bear looks a lot like Avon. This is not surprising, because he's made from scraps of Avon fur. |
| This 7 inch tall Mexican bear is wearing a souvenir sombrero from Epcot. I don't know why he looks so startled by the cats' drinking fountain. |
| Most of the tiny (6 inch tall) bears I made out of scraps one year were given away. This pinstriped fellow captured my heart, though, and so I kept him. His rose is a genuine dried rose- the only one I was able to salvage from a bouquet. |
