Teddy Town Quilt |
This was intended as a baby quilt, but I didn't want to lose any of the fun fabrics, so it's more of a twin-size quilt. The letter squares on the outside are all 'professions' I'd got from a random pick mail-order clearance, so they repeat some letters and lack others, but they look awfully cute. The section of town in the middle was also a scrap bought the same way. The moral of the story is, if you collect enough fabrics, eventually they'll form into a quilt all by themselves... well, you have to help a little bit. The binding is made from the teddies at the beach fabric on the bottom of the quilt. |
This is the back, using the rest of the football teddy bear fabric. I like to make the backs out of prints whenever possible, because I like a quilt to be reversible (to save washing-- no, because I think it's more fun.) Besides, I tend to collect more prints than solid color muslin, so I don't really have much of the 'traditional' backing fabrics for quilts. I was quite pleased to discover that through sheer serendipity, one of the football phrases is 'Hut' and the child the quilt was made for is named 'Hutson'. |
This is the cross-stitched label on the back of the quilt.. It's always nice
to put a little history on the back, but if you haven't time for something
fancy like this, there are also permanent fabric marking pens available. |
