Other Stuffed Animals |
This photo was taken in July of 1995. Dayna cat is sharing
the top of the printer with a terrycloth dinosaur. ORmAC, Mark I is the computer
under the green flowered cover. The tiny square of white dotted swiss shows
how small the monitor was. | ![]() This was made sometime in the 1970s. As a horse it's a pretty sad failure, but it made a fair to middling pillow for watching TV. I learned from this that natural proportioned legs do not really work well on stuffed horses. |
![]() This squirrel was made in 2000 out of recycled fur, rabbit and raccoon, probably. It was actually a rather frightening object- would probably have terrified a real squirrel. |
These pegasi were photographed in 1991. I saw something similar in a
catalog, and designed my own version (the ones in the catalog were flat-with
only two legs, meant for decorative hanging.) |
![]() I particularly liked this black and white one. | ![]() |
![]() Don Terry the Pteranodon showing off the sewing room in one of its less cluttered moments. He's sitting on the sewing machine. You can just see part of my cabbage patch doll's fox fur coat, hanging to the left. (The 50 year old full-size coat had dry-rotted, and I salvaged just enough usable scraps to make a coat for my doll, Colleen Meagan Fitzgerald Schwartz.) |
Photo taken in September of 1997.This grey horse was made from a Cabbage Patch Pony pattern using upholstery fabric. His name was Silver. I admit it, Colleen was a spoiled cabbage. I did eventually give away her pony when she grew bored with him. |
This closeup of the furry squirrel has a pair of pillows in the background
that turned out pretty, One was green velvet, the other was royal blue velvet,
both overlaid with the same purchased lace square. | |
| Here's Mr. Spock with some
friends in 1977. I didn't make the panther, or the fox sitting in the front,
but I did make the other animals. None of them turned out perfect, but I
had fun experimenting with making my own designs. The kangaroo does have a baby in her pouch- the baby was difficult- I was determined to give it a proper body with legs and tail, not just be a blob stuck in the pouch. I learned from that the importance of taking into consideration the thickness of the material used to make a stuffed animal. |
