Black and White Gargoyles
This photo was taken in September of 2001. The gargoyles are adapted from a pattern I bought. I made the arms jointed and changed the wing-stitching. I also did a lot less needle-sculpting because I didn't want them ugly , just to have character. The original called for warts, which seemed excessive to me.

Grey Gargoyle
Different fabrics have differing stretch, and the needle-stitching is done by eye, so each one has his/her own personality. This charcoal grey fellow has a very practical turn of mind. He's looking out for pigeons.

Gareth Gargoyle
Gareth Gargoyle was made in May of 2001.
Gareth Gargoyle Gareth was the first one I made.
When I put on his eyelids, suddenly he reminded me of an actor named Gareth. This seemed particularly apt because the pattern was named 'Garth Gargoyle'- only a letter different.

Gareth is such a charmer, hiding amongst the fig leaves.
White Gargoyle
This white one insists on attempting to look angelic, which seems odd for a gargoyle.
Gargoyle reader
This gargoyle seems a very studious fellow, but I suspect he's got a comic-book inside his text-book.
Gargoyle horse These two gargoyles are made of ovenbake clay over a squished armature of aluminum foil.
I never saw a horse-gargoyle before, so this is my own Night-mare. She is cuddling her egg, which was hatching (all you can see are the two tiny blue eyes peering out from the crack in the shell). The egg is pointy, so it shouldn't roll off the rooftop (as anyone who studies Gargoyles knows.)
Alas, the Night-mare fell from the shelf one day, and all the king's gargoyles couldn't put her back together again.
