SJ, and Leela
I love little kittens' grumpy faces. Sarah Jane is on the left, Leela is on the right (as you look at it.)
Sarah Jane, Leela and Ginger Ginger, Sarah Jane and Leela. They were so cute the way they'd squash into things together.
I think this photo was in 1983 or early 1984

Sarah Jane and Dr. Who
Sarah Jane with Doctor Who in  1983. The poor doctor has since been chewed on and clawed by quite a few cats and several dogs. They really worked over Mr. Spock, too. He had to have an ear-ectomy  later. Sarah Jane had a magic scratch spot on her back, near her tail. If I'd scratch her there, she'd wash my arm (or any other part of me she could reach.)

Sj and Leela
1985. 'Sisters, there were never such devoted sisters'...

They were really sweet together. Sarah was more clever, and the boss, but she was never mean. -------->
<--1985. A friend of my mother's made that doll's cradle for me when I was probably small enough to fit into it. I never was much for dolls, but Sarah Jane and Leela loved it.

Sarah Jane
The 'kerchief' is actually a paper napkin. Sarah learned that if she was willing to put up with wearing it, she'd get a treat at the dining room table and this time I put it on her as a babuska.
Sarah Jane
Here SJ practised her killer whale imitation. Remarkably lifelike. She had a thyroid problem and ate less than any cat I've ever had, and weighed more.

Sarah Jane
She got up to 27 pounds, poor kitty and could no longer leap up and walk along the tops of doors. She was still my favorite... she'd fetch me presents- first a live bug (my scream told her to try something else), then doll's clothes (particularly knits), small decorations (once a tiny wrapped Christmas package) and something she was extremely proud of : a still plastic-wrapped frozen chicken breast.
Leela
Leela wasn't exactly starved, either. She weighed 17 pounds. When they went to the vet I'd have to slide them into the cardboard cat-carriers and watch the cardboard 'breathe' with them. Carrying the two of them at once was a real workout.

Leela
1985.

Leela loved dress-up. She was particularly fond of shiny things and jewelry.

Once I fastened a rhinestone bracelet and put it on her head as a tiara. She sat as still as a stone for ten minutes, trying to keep it balanced on her head.

Another time I was playing 'cats' cradle' with a length of black and silver cord, and she couldn't resist biting it in half.
