Miami Metrozoo 1983 Flamingoes
Parrot Jungle 1987 Flamingoes (Their coloration is dependent on the food they eat. In the wild they tend to eat a lot of pink shellfsh. Feeding shrimp to big birds sounds expensive- I suspect the darker ones above have been fed chopped up beets along with their regular food.)
Parrot Jungle 1987 Duck (no idea what species- as I recall it was a fairly small duck, possibly some variety of tree duck.)
San Diego Zoo Butterfly 1977 (It was a free butterfly [not one of the exhibits], happily sucking nectar in one of the ornamental plantings at the zoo entrance.)
In our pumphouse by our pool. Frog !982 (We used to have lots of little tree frogs, and an occasional larger fellow like this one. They'd sing all night long and be a bit of a nuisance laying rafts of eggs in the pool, but I liked them. Global Warming has killed so many of their eggs that I can't recall the last time I saw or heard a frog in our yard.)
On a tree in our front yard. Cuban Knight Anole 1982 (These lizards are exotics, sneaked aboard boats from Cuba to arrive in South Florida. They, and their smaller brown cousins, tend to crowd out the native lizards. The Knight Anole grows up to 18 inches long, which doesn't stop the outside cats from killing them, poor things.)
