Recognition of Prior Learning

This document (sometimes referred to as an RPL Project Report) was written as part of the skills assessment procedure that I went through for my Australian permanent residency in 2001.

The Australian Computer Society (ACS), the body charged with assessing the skills of computing professionals who are looking to migrate to Australia, have a provision for applicants who do not posess a relevant degree, but do have significant and long-term experience in the Information Technology industry and associated business.

Part of their process requries the applicant to construct a document to present their skills, experience and learning in relation to the Society's "Core Body of Knowledge".

It is being made available for a number of reasons - principally because it represents a large collection of my experience and expertise in the Information Technology industry - but also because the exercise is set without guidelines for content or style, and it is hoped that this document can be a useful reference for those considering on embarking on the RPL route to gain Australian Permanent Residency.

It is worth noting that the guidelines for RPL Assessment and Skilled Migration change all of the time. If you are considering undertaking such an exercise, it is wise to gather and study all of the information made available by the assessing body (in this case the Australian Computer Society (ACS)) and the Department of Immigration and Multicultural and Indigineous Affairs (DIMIA), as well as seeking the counsel of an experienced migration agent.

My RPL submission is presented as an Adobe PDF file and requires Adobe Acrobat Reader to view.
