Play me I'm yours

Pianos are turning up in the streets of Sydney bearing signs that invite people to play them. Last Friday night I stopped by the one at Taylor Square and took some video with my phone. I uploaded the video to YouTube, and it took until today to finish being processed. It hardly seems worth the carbon footprint, but now that it's there, I'll put it here as well:

As the final moment of the video suggests, here was an open violin case on the ground on the other side of the piano, and some people had given coins. I asked the bewigged player if she was a passer-by or had some closer connection to the instrument. 'I'm a local,' she said, picked up her money and strolled off. A large man arrived at that moment, fresh from the pub, flexing his fingers and offering to play some Beethoven,: 'What do you fancy, a bit of Eroica?' But I had to get back to the Balkan to rejoin my dinner companions.

So far that's the sum total of my participation in the Festival of Sydney.
