The Stamperdowners, an a cappella choir from
Camperdown, came to the dementia wing of the nursing home today and were a great
success. Peter, the choir master, was superb at drawing the residents out. There
were children, and a baby named Jasper who won many an ageing heart (including
mine).
I wish I'd started videoing from the
moment Valentina agreed to stand up and sing 'Stormy Weather'. Here's the very
end of her show-stopping contribution to the
concert.
This started out as a patchy journal about family life with my mother-in-law, Mollie, who has Alzheimers and was then living with us. Mollie has moved, first into a "low-care facility" then, in July 2004, into a nursing home. As these and other events have overtaken us, the blog has moved on ...
