Docked in Tennesee

Skinwalker Log August 17, 2004

Ft. Loudon Marina

We are just starting to get reports from our friends in Englewood regarding Hurricane Charlie. Fortunately they and the town are only slightly bruised and shaken.

Reports about Port Charlotte, Punta Gorda, Arcadia, Cape Coral and Captiva are all extremely sketchy and unnerving. We have not seen any news reports after the fact and we know very little about the damage and effect on the community except for a few cryptic lines from friends in Englewood.

We are thankful we are here. My Englewood Evacuation plan was to put the boat in the South Gulf Cove on a canal and into the mangroves. It seems South Gulf Cove may have taken a strong hit also. We have no word on Charlotte Harbor Dry Storage where we worked on the boat. We are afraid to call them.

We were horrified to hear reports that there was significant loss of life in Punta Gorda. Arcadia was reported ravaged. Indications suggest Captiva is now two or three islands. We do not have confirmation on any of this.

We hope our Englewood friends will share with us more information so we may pass it on to others on the list.

Englewood friends you number about ten people on my list of over a hundred. Many of the others on this email list have emailed, called or asked directly about your safety and the damage and destruction south and east of Englewood.

Please send us information.

Marge G. I believe you are safe in Cincinnati now. What do you know? Is your house in Punta Gorda damaged?

We know many MTOA members live in Punta Gorda and Cape Coral and are sure the reports in the boating magazines will be extensive in a few months. We will be checking the TWL tonight and tomorrow night to see if anything is being said there. We are a week behind in reading our email and news reports.

Mark Richter were you in harms way?

My friends in Ft. Myers, were you in harms way?
