Skinwalker log August 4, 2004, 0800 hrs
I woke but couldnt move. There were dozens of fuzzy horned creatures in my head that came alive like Mexican jumping beans when I moved. My eyes cemented shut from the last of a quart of Baileys the previous night split four ways. I broke the bonds holding my eyes incommunicado with the morning light with broad strokes of the back of wrists. Oh, no. I moaned and winced with the fresh morning light, blinked long and hard and tried opening again. The creatures in my head started dancing to some morbid head banger music, as I groaned out of bed. I knew immediately what innocent fun turned my life into this nightmarish event.
Kathy and Jesse have arrived. That means fresh blood and new booze. Let the nightmare of morning hangover begin. I am hoping to get this first couple of paragraphs completed before Jesse finds me without food or drink because I know he will spike my coffee with Irish cream, bring me vodka with a splash of tomato drink or make my favorite, biscuits and gravy.
Jesse is the nicest evil I know. I have often wondered what has caused these fits of drunkenness. Now I know. It is not me, it is that devil Jesse.
Gawd, I hope he finds me soon with the hair of the dog before I succumb to the pain.
We had a wonderful reunion. I must tell you honestly, we love what we are and do not miss Florida, but oh do we miss our friends.
Cruisers underway meet and make many new friends but they understand immediately that the connection while often enduring is also usually en Passant. Meetings may be as casual as passing embraces on the VHF radio or a loaf of bread and a jug of wine overnight in a quiet cove. It is a uniquely mariner bond that cruisers develop with others born of wanderlust.
Aw, but our Englewood friends are also special. My, oh my, look at that stack of wonderful books from Bill & Penny. The wonderful Tee shirts that say Englewood and the wine and Irish Cream from Margo and John. We especially value the mules, Kathy and Jesse for packing it all here and making the arduous trek to visit us. We are truly blessed with love from our closest friends. Jesse and Kathy being here with the gifts and the love has been a highlight of our trip.
This email was to tell of the days we are spending with Jesse and Kathy. It will only take a few words that do not express our enjoyment and relaxation.
We have whiled away the days and evenings talking, drinking, and eating all of these events from the buoyant comfort of a colored foam noodle where we float in our private cove on the Little Tennessee River.
My question to Captain Lynnie. Can we really do this every day without guilt?
