life changing events

They happen so fast. It seems that our whole life the theme is "hurry up, and wait. Hurry up and wait." Well, right now, it is hurry up. For so many months we prayed and waited. We had so many close calls. In January Greg was offered a position in Phoenix but we turned it down thinking that there would be more offers and our goal was to get back up to the Seattle area. We thought that when he was laid off in December, it was an answer to our fervent prayers to move back near the kids. Then, when no other offers materialized from all the resumes and "feelers" Greg sent out, we looked into other careers.

Greg went to work for George S. May Company as a business consultant. We bought a laptop for him and a portable printer and some very sturdy luggage. We turned our lifestyle completely upside down wanting it to work. He would be gone from Sunday night to Friday night every week, and I would be his own personal travel agent and GPS guidance. That part of it worked well, but the assignments he was given were so bad that he never made a dime. After a month, he had to quit and we had to dip into our savings. Then, he decided to get into insurance sales. So, he went to school and got his license, which cost us a bit. He went to work for a company we thought was reputable and solid, but before he could ever make even one sale, the company closed its doors in Portland! We dipped into our savings again. All this time we kept believing that God had something better in mind. Then, when the interview came for another job in the Phoenix area, one with so much potential, one that was almost too good to be true, we just knew that this was what we'd waited for all along., The only snag was that it was so much farther away from the kids. We were thanking God ahead of time for it. We had family who had just moved there and were looking forward to living near us. I had a friend who had been praying for someone strong in the Lord to come into her life. She and I were convinced it was going to be me. It was all set. But then, after Greg's second interview, when we didn't hear back from the company, we wondered what was going on. Each day that went by, we got more and more confused until finally we heard through a third party that Greg didn't get the job. We were devastated. I got so angry at God that I stopped talking to Him. I stayed angry for a month until I realized what I was doing and went to Him for forgiveness. In the mean time, we continued to send out resumes and worked with a headhunter. Our money, even our savings was running out. Our son and his new bride paid for our rent in September, That's when Greg finally reluctantly took a sales job with the very people who had stabbed him in the back so that he lost his job with the previous company. The only difference was that they were with a different company.

Once we knew that we were staying here, that's when I started searching for a job. And now as our daughter used to say when she was telling a story, "now this is happening." This being that I found a job, was waiting to hear if it would be me or one of the other two candidates, and before I could learn, Greg is promoted to a management position in Tacoma! We got the call this morning. Early. We were both still in bed sleeping. He starts on Monday. I'm getting moving quotes today. My life is completely turned upside down again.
