nov 2 song of the day

Holy Holy Holy

Holy, holy, holy! Lord God Almighty!
Early in the morning our song shall rise to thee.
Holy, holy, holy! Merciful and mighty,
God in three Persons, blessèd Trinity.

Holy, holy, holy! All saints adore thee,
casting down their golden crowns around the glassy sea;
cherubim and seraphim falling down before thee,
which wert, and art, and evermore shalt be.

Holy, holy, holy! Though the darkness hide thee,
though the sinful human eye thy glory may not see,
only thou art holy; there is none beside thee,
perfect in power, in love, and purity.

Holy, holy, holy! Lord God Almighty!
All thy works shall praise thy Name, in earth, and sky, and sea;
Holy, holy, holy! Merciful and mighty,
God in three Persons, blessèd Trinity.

OK, the song lyrics complete, I just have to make a comment here. As I drove to early morning prayer at 5:50am this morning, this is the song that came into my head. And it was really only the first verse that rang over and over in my head. It was only that verse that I sang in my heart during prayer. But I always include all of the lyrics for anyone who may not be familiar with these songs, and in case the words might minister to someone who needs to hear just what they say. In this case, as I read over the lyrics I came to the part that said, "cherubim and seraphim falling down before thee, which wert, and art, and evermore shalt be," and I couldn't go any further. I got distracted. I mean, "wert?" What is that? Sounds like a physical ailment. "Hi there, do you carry any wert remover?"
