how to use this blogFor more information on the features of this blog such as a definition of the categories, click on "Read More" just below or just scroll down and start right in on the latest entry. CATEGORIES
This is a feature that most readers might not understand or be aware of. I've organized my blog entries into categories for easier reference. Here is a summary of what you'll find in each category. blog hogs - block links - this is where you'll find links to other blogs and other sites that have something interesting or worthy of note. blog log - my journal - this is where I post a daily entry. It is my online diary, the chronicle of my life blog of eternal stench - this is the entry that gained the most fame from readers last May because here is where I post things that I think STINK blogkirk - this is a monthly column written by Kirk Cameron with links back to his site blogsong - this is an ongoing list of the song that God places in my heart on a daily basis foodblog- this is where you'll find recipes frogblog - lists - this is a section of interesting lists, mostly about me such as books I've read, or movies that have defined me, things like that, There is a really good entry in this section of Christian songs to try if you like a particular secular musician's work. giggly blog - this is the lighthearted section of the blog where you can easily find something to cheer you up and make you laugh or at least put a smile on your face menoblog - this is the section where I talk mostly about health issues, mainly having to do with menopause, but some that are valuable for everyone shop blog - here you'll find either products to purchase from me directly, or a link to a site where you can purchase products I recommend (and I get the credit for your purchase) soggy blogging - serious stuff - this is the section where I write about things that mean a lot to me, things that I'm serious about, such as politics and faith. This is most likely the section where I get the challenging comments. This is the section that will make you think, if you're in the mood for that. SEARCH If there's an entry that you read in the past but either the trackback feature was not offered at the time (it's only a recent feature) or you didn't know about this feature, then use the search field in the right hand navigation menu to find it. For instance, if you'd like to see the movie I posted of my son's wedding, then type the word "wedding" in the search field and hit "find." If there are too many hits that come up, you can further narrow your search at the bottom of the search page by entering another word, such as in this case, "movie" or "video." Once you find what you're looking for, click on trackback and you will get an exact URL or link to that very entry, so that you don't have to go searching for it again. COMMENTS Another new feature, just added mid-September is the comments feature at the bottom of each entry. In one way it was nice before because I felt like I could say whatever I wanted to and no one could call me on it, such as during the end of May when someone from Metafilter found my son's website and over 1000 visits were made to his site, his fiance's site and mine. Many of these people didn't like our values and some even left mean comments at Casey's blog. However, since offering this feature, I've had some people challenge my values, and it has not been unwelcome at all. So, feel free to comment. barring some unforeseeable obstacle, I will always reply. But, please, keep it clean. If you leave profanity, I WILL edit those words and if I feel that you are particularly offensive I will delete your comment entirely and block you from commenting further. QUICK LINKS This is not a new feature, but is easily overlooked. It is at the top of the navigation menu on the right in every entry page. It will get you back to the home page of either the blog or the blog category. CALENDAR The only reason I like this feature is because I like to have a monthly calendar reference to look at every once in awhile. It also is handy to note what days I have made entries. But, if you have a particularly uncanny memory for dates, you can actually click on a date of the calendar and reference the entries made on that day. That's fun if you want to know what happened on or around that day. TRACKBACK If you read an entry that you particularly like, one that you might want to return to or reference again one day, just click on the trackback option and you'll get a window that will give you the URL or web address of that very entry to bookmark. Then whenever you want to see that entry again, you will have your bookmark all set up. MY SHARED PHOTOS On the right navigation menu, scrolling down further, you'll find three random and changing photos from a photo sharing site I belong to called "flickr." I like this site because as a graphic artist I am always looking for royalty free photos to use in my ads or design or videos. This is a great site for that. BLOG LINKS Here is a quick link list of the blogs that I visit regularly, that you might find interesting too. Just click on the one that piques your interest and it will take you right to it. BLOGINALITY This is a link to a site where you can take a shortened version of the Meyers-Briggs personality test and find out more about why you do the things you do. XML/RSS FEED This is a feature that you can use if you have a program that allows you to read your favorite blogs all in one place without having to click around the internet. It feeds the latest entries right to your program. I use my iBlog program for this and have added quite a few blogs to my newsfeed list. I don't necessarily read them everyday, but I like this feature when I don't want to get on the internet. SHANNONBLOGS WEBRING This is a group of blogs created and maintained by someone named Shannon. Click on the list button to get a list of other shannon blogs. It's fun to read what other Shannons are saying and find out what they are doing. If your name is Shannon, click on the join button and add your site to the ring.
