songs that have defined me

Though this list is starting out small, it will continue to grow because I do SO love music. It speaks to my soul. It affects my mood, It changes my thoughts. It influences my life. Right now I have 1184 songs in my iTunes database, but I still haven't downloaded all of my CDs, and I will continue to build my library by purchasing songs online.

More by Matthew West (every once in awhile a song comes along that just stops me dead in my tracks, makes me close my eyes and my causes my heart to soar, this is one of them)

Clocks by Coldplay (I heard this song on the way home from Seattle once when my car broke down, it calmed and soothed me so much, but I couldn't find it again for weeks because when I asked people about it to find its name, all I could remember to hum for them was yoohoo, ahhhh, yoohoo, ahhhh)

I'm Blue by Eiffel 65 (good beat, reminds me of my daughter who liked this song at a point in her life that I love to remember about her)

Kiss from a Rose by Seal (I listened to this song over and over about 10 years ago. I just loved the tone, the flow and the feeling of it. For Christmas, one of my son's friends gave me a single copy CD of this song. It told me that I must wear my heart on my sleeve for one of my kids' friends to know what my favorite song was!)

Orinoco Flow by Enya (This was my SIGNATURE song about 12 years ago. I loved the way it made me feel light and airy and free)

Sin Can Be Resistable by Apologetix (this is a parody of the Robert Palmer song "Simply Irrisistible." It's not only clever, but I find it inspiring)

Chant by Michelle Tumes (this song comforted me to no end after first my Navarre, my little poodle of 12 years died, and then my cherished mother-in-law died shortly after. I had also lost my job during that time. It was one of the hardest seasons to go through in my life. I listened to this song often. It helped me to weep and get it out)

Liquid by Jars of Clay (I used to be on a dance team at church. Most of the time we decided as a group what songs we'd perform and how to choreograph them. But for a long long time, I worked on choreographing this song alone in my head over and over. It was like an obsession with me. I never did teach or perform it. Maybe I will someday)

Mummer's Dance by Loreena McKennitt (the first time I had this song, it was like hearing magic. It transports me to a time and place away from this world, into a fantasy land with faeries and elfs. )

Youth of the Nation by POD (this song speaks to my ministry. I have worked in youth ministry for years and when I hear this song, it sings my heart for and about them)
