vertical alignment

This list is really what I call MY VERTICAL ALIGNMENT, which is my value system. Each of these things listed are highly important to me, but they are listed in the order of importance. All my decisions are so much easier to make when I take my vertical alignment into account.

For instance, should I accept the job offer that pays me $60 an hour, but in which I must travel clear across the country and be gone from home 5 days a week? Taking a look at my vertical alignment, my family is more important than my work (or business or money) and thus, I should turn this job offer down, Now this doesn't mean that I put more time into the things at the top of the list, because many times one thing demands more time and attention than another. For instance since my children grew up and moved out, I put more time into other things, such as my business and my home than I did when I was raising my children. However, before I pour myself into housework or errands or such, I make sure that I have taken care of any family obligation or needs. If my daughter calls while I'm shopping for shoes, asking for my help with a term paper, then I drop everything and focus on her. If I'm feeling sick, then I don't pour myself into my work, however I might still make sure that my husband has coffee in the morning before he goes off to work. That's how it works.
Here is my vertical alignment:
- Jesus
- my husband
- my children
- my parents
- my family
- my friends
- my church family
- my business
- my ministry
- my health
- my home
