WMD

Just as I was waking up the other day, this question popped into my head. "If Saddam had no weapons of mass destruction, then how did he kill all those Kurds?

I've surfed a lot of sites lately, with views everywhere from "we should never have gone to the Middle East with our military" to "we should never leave the Middle East but always have a military presence." I read them all. I've read the comments on those who staunchly support President Bush's initial reasons for invading Iraq, to those who maintain that there never were any WMD. Me, being the one with the philosophy that it's always better to be safe than sorry, place myself squarely in the first camp, but the controversy isn't as important to me as the "what to do now" scenario. So, when I woke with this thought, I wondered where it came from. Perhaps my subconscious has been bothered by this "minor" detail and I've been mulling it over in the background all this time? I'm not sure. In any case, I really do want the answer to this question.

To me, it's like saying, "there is no evidence of toothpaste anywhere in my neighbors house, thus he has never had any toothpaste in his house!" Notwithstanding that he has perfectly healthy white teeth, of course. It's those healthy white teeth that continue to haunt me, that or the thousands of dead Iraqi men, women and children previous to the US invasion.
