Handel's Chandos Anthems (various arrangements of the psalms in 4 volumes), The Sixteen Choir & Orchestra, Harry Christophers conductor, (1989 Chandos Records Ltd., Colchester - Essex, England). Highly recommended.

Henry Purcell, The Complete Anthems & Services (various psalms & hymns in 12 or more volumes), The Choir of The King's Consort, Robert King conductor, (1993 Hyperion Records Ltd., London England). Highly recommended. If you can't afford the entire collection, Hyperion also publishes a CD with highlights from these anthems called "The Essential Purcell."

Handel's Messiah - Collegium Musicum 90, Richard Hickox conductor, (1991 Chandos Records Ltd., Colchester - Essex, England). A little hard to find but probably the best "Messiah" I know of. I have been exceedingly impressed by the Chandos label.

J. S. Bach: St. Matthew Passion (in English), The Bach Choir, Sir David Willcocks conductor, (1994 ASV Ltd., 1979 The Decca Record Co. Ltd., England). A must for any Bach fans. This is the only "english" version have been able to track down.

George Handel's Dettingen Te Deum, The Choir of Westminster Abbey, (1984 Polydor International - An Archiv Record).

Thomas Tallis: The Complete English Anthems, The Tallis Scholars, (1986 Gimell Records Ltd., England). Included is a track in which the text of John chapter six is set to music.

Your Favorite Hymns, The Liverpool Cathedral Choir, (1992 Virgin Classics Ltd.).

Faire is the Heaven, The Cambridge Singers, (1988 Collegium Records).

A Festival of Lessons and Carols, Choir of King's College, Cambridge, (1990 EMI Records Ltd.). If you like this CD, you'll probably also enjoy, their "Procession with Carols on Advent Sunday."

The Golden Age of English Cathedral Music, Winchester Cathedral Choir, (1990 Academy Sound & Vision Ltd.).

Allegri-Miserere, The Choir of Trinity College Cambridge (1993 Conifer Records Ltd.)

The English Anthem, 1991 Hyperion Records Ltd., The Choir of St. Paul's Cathedral

The Sound of King's, Choir of King's College, Cambridge, (1989 EMI Records Ltd.).

Psalms, The Choir of Westminster Abbey, (1991 Virgin Classics Ltd.).

The Psalms of David (volumes 1-8, each CD features a different cathedral/choir), (1990 Priory Records).
