There's a new center that opened up within walking distance of the training site that has pretty new computers, though the two times we've tried to go they haven't had a connection. Tomorrow they say, well we'll see, time has a very loose quality here. I got your screen tent today and it was like the best Christmas ever. There were a few other packages and I believe they were all DHL. I figure the airmail should come by next week, though we'll all be gone on our week long site visits so who knows.

I'm doing well here. I've had my bouts of stomach problems, but that is to be expected. It's still difficult to sleep, but we had a big rain tonight and I'm hoping the cooler weather will help things along.

French is coming along. This week we've been too busy with other stuff to really get into it, but my French is definitely coming back a little. I'm creative enough that if I have problems, I can usually figure out a way to get around it with hand gestures or something. The visit was great, but too much to get into right now. I just have time to make a quick e-mail today because I have people waiting on me and we're going out tonight to celebrate someone's birthday.

Please let people know that I won't be writing letters while I'm in training stage. E-mail is available, and I just don't have the time to write. I didn't really bring that many e-mail addresses with me, so if someone wants to e-mail them, give them this address and tell them to e-mail me first.  [Note:  You can send e-mail to Shaffer from the Welcome Page e-mail link].

So yeah, this Saturday we leave with our counterparts to our villages, the villages we'll be staying at for our two years. Tomorrow we all find out which villages those are and man, am I excited.

Sorry I missed your call on Sunday. Two other volunteers invited us to dinner and I accepted without realizing that it meant I probably wouldn't be home in time for our 8 o clock call. This Sunday I won't be there as we leave on Saturday. Next Sunday I should be back unless my village is in the farthest corner away from Bobo, then it's possible I might not be back by then.

I love you guys, talk to you soon though it might not be until after I get back,

Shaffer
