Hey guys,

Well, I'm back now from our first contact for Bike-a-thon. It went well. Ras missed his plane so he wasn't able to go, but Mat came in his stead.  We had a blast and worked our asses off. So right now I'm doing some other bike-a-thon stuff until Tuesday when the PC security guy and I go check out two villages close to mine for the new SED volunteers. From there it's back to Bobo for a day to have a first meeting with the Mayor there and tell him about bike-a-thon and ask for his help with the ending celebration/concert we'll be having. When that's done, I can go back to village for a little while.

Back in Ouaga the 30th for more bike a-thon stuff. Then two weeks in village, then I'm working a week and half of stage with the SED volunteers, then a Volunteer conference in Ouaga for a couple of days, plus Thanksgiving at the AmbassadorŐs house. Then Ras and I spend more than a week doing the second contact which takes us into mid-December. Then it looks like Mat, Spencer, and I, plus perhaps a few more people, will be spending Christmas and New Years in Benin, on the beach somewhere. Then it's back to Ouaga, third contact for Bike-a-thon, then three solid weeks of the actual bike-a-thon, then, then I can get back to my regular life in village the first of February or so....

I already feel as though my year is done here sometimes.  I've been thinking, too...and lately I feel as though I'll probably not be doing a third year here. I might look into other countries to do a third year extension. But the latest plan would be to travel for a few months after I'm done, then come back to the states and work for a little while, apply to the JET program (teaching English in Japan) then go do that for a year or two.... We'll see, my mind changes every day.É
Well, I guess that pretty much catches you guys up. I have found that my surge protector no longer works...which I guess indicates that it died doing it's job of protecting my computer. I was hoping you guys would be able to send me another one quickly. I'm using a local power strip surge protector while I'm in Ouaga, though I'm not sure how good it actually is.

Love you guys a lot and miss you,

Shaffer
