Patrick Whitney, Director of the Institute of Design, IIT

"I'm here because of the people who come to TED..." Without a doubt, Patrick has summarized the real reason TED is such a draw for so many.

I had the pleasure of meeting Patrick for the first time this year, listen to him present and captivate the TED audience, and simply enjoy his company. From this week of encounter, I'm confident that the "art and future of industrial design" is in good hands.

Professor Patrick Whitney is the Director of the Institute of Design, Illinois Institute of Technology, and is the Steelcase/Robert C. Pew Professor of Design. Learn more about Patrick and his many contributions to the world of design, and world at large, by reading his bio at:
