Perhaps the turn of the century
and millennium has affected our thinking. We expect
change, but we are apprehensive about it. Along
with most people, educators do not have a very
clear picture of the future. Many of us feel that
technological change has not added quality to the
learning experience. Books seem better than movies
in many respects. Newspapers seem more thorough
than television news. We blame technology for
"watering down" our information. But there are
fundamental differences between print media and
television and between books and movies that have
nothing to do with technology. These differences,
however, have a great deal to do with our past, and
ultimately with our future...
