We live in interesting times...

Perhaps the turn of the century and millennium has affected our thinking. We expect change, but we are apprehensive about it. Along with most people, educators do not have a very clear picture of the future. Many of us feel that technological change has not added quality to the learning experience. Books seem better than movies in many respects. Newspapers seem more thorough than television news. We blame technology for "watering down" our information. But there are fundamental differences between print media and television and between books and movies that have nothing to do with technology. These differences, however, have a great deal to do with our past, and ultimately with our future...
