Middlesex School's bridge into Estabrook Woods
would be bigger than this bridge

For scale, note the 4-foot sidewalk at the left. In court papers, Middlesex School's consultant says "The Middlesex School Bridge design was based upon" the above-pictured bridge, which is located at a large condo development called "The Woods at Wilbraham." According to the school's engineering plans (see below), which are on file with the state, that bridge is the same width as Middlesex's bridge would be (i.e., 32 feet exterior width) and has the same layout of ways, sidewalks, and rails. And both bridges would have open grate, "see-through" decks. Middlesex's 300-foot-long bridge deck, however, would be more than four times the length of Wilbraham's 70-foot deck. Another photo of the Wilbraham bridge, with a lonely walker, is below.

This is an "end-on" view of Middlesex's proposed bridge, taken from the school's current engineering plans. The view is from the west end, showing the bridge built on pilings driven into the old cart path. North is to the left. Water and sewer pipes are to be among the utilities suspended beneath the Mx bridge.
