One afternoon in late fall, while searching for the Concord-Lincoln town boundary at Walden Pond, I noticed (at far left) this fisherman, resting the pond. The water level is low, after two dry years. This is my favorite time for walking around the pond, for people can spread out under an expansive sky.
The fisherman is sitting on Walden's east shore. Southeast cove (the boat launch and the Lincoln bound) is at the left. The railroad and Thoreau's cove are in the distance. Red Cross Beach is at the upper right. The main beach and the bathhouse are at the right edge.
