Walden Pond from Pine (or Bare) Hill in Lincoln

Caption: "View from Pine
Hill over Walden Pond toward Mt. Wachusett, April 28, 1906." Thoreau's
landscape was in general both more spacious and had more distant views as
a regular experience as people moved about the town. Walden Woods was
truly a place of retirement. Thoreau's cabin site was in woods on far
shore near cove in right center of photo. Railroad is at far left. (Photo
